Black Butterfly Bath and Body Celebrates Community and 10 Year Anniversary

You are invited to join Black Butterfly this Saturday, Oct. 25, as we celebrate natural beauty, local food, business, and spoken word at the Second Annual Fragrance Fest and Small Business Bash at Black Butterfly Bath & Body on East 13th Street.

The day long celebration features 5-minute mini-massages from Body By Nature Wellness & Massage, a footrub by Mia and a hair and skin consultation from Beauty & Beyond’s Ara Williams. Prepare to be delighted by Black Butterfly’s new bath and body line.

This is a celebration of real African American enterprise, creativity, and wellness exclusively available to you in the world’s center: Austin, Texas.

Items donated from participating businesses will be given away each hour, and Joe Brundidge (a.k.a. Element 615) will spit poetry and host an an open mic from 2 to 4 p.m.

“I came up with an event where I’d come out with my new product line while sharing the spotlight with other black-owned businesses,” says Gloria Manor, who opened the first Black Butterfly location with her husband, David Manor, in 2006, but have been in business since 2004.

“My goal was to help give black-owned businesses exposure. To let the community come to know that there were more black-owned businesses around Austin and surrounding areas.”

From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., sample fine foods from vendors personally selected by Black Butterfly, including Ribdiliculos BBQ & Catering, Ooh Wee Chicken food truck, and Pink Sugar Cupcakery. Kim Richardson will host a Moscato wine tasting alongside organic teas and Pkaye Washington’s Gourmet Coffee.

In the backyard, amid a candle display by Shine Creations, you may consult with Meredith Sisnett of 02 Staffing about resumes and job seeking, as well as discuss making travel plans with Karen Maxfield-Lunkin and her daughter Michaela of Dreamtrips.

Archette Alexander of Nell’D It will share information about early detection of ovarian cancer. Roz Mays Davis of RoxKz Wellness will offer fitness demonstrations, and Dominick Harvey of Isaiah D. Photography will present his photographic art. And you’ll definitely want to peek inside the Fresch Limousines that will be on display.

“I’m so excited us to see us all coming together to make a presentation of collaboration to the community,” says Gloria. “I am mindful of the voice of God reaching out to me every step we’ve made…Every move we’ve made…down to the color of the paint on the walls. God did it!”

“And I thank Him for providing me with such an amazing husband like David Manor. He is my tremendous supporter and true voice of encouragement.”
