Black Films Coming to the Big Screen: June Spotlight

Capital City Black Film Festival is proud to bring you this monthly highlight of films with Black casts, Black crew and telling Black stories. Here’s June’s Black Films Coming to the Big Screen spotlight:

Superfly 

This remake of the 1972 blaxploitation film “Super Fly” follows a cocaine dealer looking to make one last big deal before getting out of the business. 

Directed by Director X, the film stars Trevor Jackson, Michael Kenneth Williams, OutKast’s Big Boi and more. It’s coming to the big screen on June 13. 

Uncle Drew

This star-studded comedy follows the main character, Dax, as convinces former neighborhood basketball legend Uncle Drew to join a tournament after losing his basketball team to his rival. 

It features NBA superstars Kyrie Irving, Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller and Nate Robinson. It also includes comedic big hitters Lil Rel Howery, Lisa Leslie, J. B. Smoove, Mike Epps, and Tiffany Haddish. The film is scheduled to release on June 29, 2018.
