bScene’s Black Films Coming to the Big Screen: February Spotlight

Each month, we’re bringing you some of the amazing Black films gracing the big screen in the new bScene’s Black Films Coming to the Big Screen.

Produced by Capital City Black Film Festival, bScene showcases old and new Black films for the community to enjoy together at Alamo Drafthouse locations. bScene has screened films such as All Eyez on Me, Boomerang, Marshall, and others, and more screenings are to come in 2018. Here’s February’s Black Films Coming to the Big Screen spotlight:

Black Panther


This highly-anticipated Marvel film is all the buzz in the film industry and online. Directed by Ryan Coogler and with a star-studded Black cast, Black Panther has already topped the Marvel all-time record for first-day advance ticket sales. Also, it looks like this film is on track to surpass the record for biggest advance ticket sales for any superhero movie in history.

To celebrate, Capital City Black Film Festival and soulciti are bringing you the Black Panther Theater Takeover with a private screening, Ethiopian-inspired dinner menu, after party, and costume contest. You don’t want to miss out. Tickets are already almost gone!

The Cloverfield Paradox


Released this past Sunday on Netflix, The Cloverfield Paradox is the third installment of the Cloverfield series. It’s directed by Julius Onah and has several Black cast members including  Gugu Mbatha-Raw and David Oyelowo.  The film follows scientists aboard a space station who are testing a device to solve an energy crisis but soon come face-to-face with a frightening alternate reality.
