Here is the premise: A documentary about a physician in Michoacán, Mexico who leads a citizen uprising against the drug cartel that has wreaked havoc on the region for years. Across the U.S. border, a veteran heads a paramilitary group working to prevent Mexico’s drug wars from entering U.S. territory.

I was so wrapped up in this documentary; it was so fascinating with the ups and downs that the doctor had. Cartel Land shows how the doctor was able to get a lot of support from people that were tired of the Cartel running business in their towns; but then the down side of towns that were so scared they would not accept any help for fear of retaliation by the cartel. No Hollywood script could ever be this great, mainly because you see the real people and their fears and desperation. On the other side of the border you see a veteran who has volunteers that try to keep the cartel out of the US; while not as much time is spent in this story, it is still very riveting.
