Based on the book of the same name by W. Bruce Cameron, we follow the many different lives of a dog. As each life comes to an end, whether very short or a long happy one, he wonders what his purpose is in life and if he was a good dog. The movie covers the entire gambit of dogs’ lives; from a stray puppy on the streets, to a police dog, to a family pet, and back around again. Each life is adventurous, full of tears – both hard and warm hearted, and laughter along the way.

Each end of life brings him back for another life to help more people in various walks of life. Each time he strives to help his person find happiness and love and to earn their praise. When a series of events lead him down a familiar path, he realizes he gets a second chance to help one man find happiness and peace.

I cannot go on enough about how heart-felt and warm this movie is. It will make you cry, laugh, and leave you with happy cheerful tears. The idea that dogs are angels sent to help us through life and that they are reincarnated life after life to continue to bring love to people is a wonderful idea. It reinforces the idea that dogs are truly man’s best friend.

I know that there has been a lot of negative media on this movie, but I feel it is very unfounded. If there truly were mistreatment of animals on the set, the movie would have been shut down right there. The footage “leaked” to TMZ only weeks before the movie’s release is a red flag. I know that there are always two or more divers in the pool when doing a movie scene for any actor and that in this instance there were two divers in the pool with the dog. The FULL footage shows that the dog was trained for the stunt from the other side of the pool and then they decided to change the shot and he was being rushed through the scene from the new side of the pool. Also, the fact that this was a snippet and not a full video should have also raised a flag on its legitimacy.

I urge you to consider the source and the state of the evidence presented before you actually jump on the band wagon to burn the witch. This society has become too quick to rise to anger and take up a cause on a dime without any knowledge or true facts. Anything taken out of context will serve whatever agenda is being worked by the party trying to get attention.

For this movie goer and animal lover, I can say that this movie has everything in it that you would hope a movie like this has. It has heart and love and respect for these angels that come in and out of our lives. I absolutely love this movie. It is well cast, well written, and well done. I recommend this one, whole-heartedly. That’s my review and I’m sticking to it. See you at the theaters.
