Good Kill

First movie to address drones in the military and the good and bad uses for them.

Here is the premise: A Las Vegas-based fighter pilot (Ethan Hawke) turned drone pilot fights the Taliban by remote control for 12 hours a day, then goes home to the suburbs and feuds with his wife and kids for the other 12. But the pilot is starting to question the mission and he wonders if what he is doing is very far removed from what terrorists do.

Very interesting movie with a moral dilemma, is it fair to sit thousands of miles away and use drones to pick of enemy combatants; even if the targets are not all the way vetted as enemy combatants yet? And what about collateral damage, the innocent civilians that are just in the wrong place at the wrong time? I imagine this is the same argument that came from helicopter pilots as they bomb unseen people from a fairly safe distance in the sky; only now we are far removed from the area that it gives an eerie video game feel to the entire mission. GOOD KILL deals with this subject very well and does not take a real stand on where it stands; you see the uses for good as well as for bad. I see this movie as more of a warning of what this could mean to us as we become a colder, more removed from society and wrapped up in technology kind of nation.  It was a great script and Ethan Hawke blows it out of the water; there are some areas the movie drags but it does not take away from the film in the least. My only complaints were a few of the subplots that were never really dealt with, but then again, not everything thing in our lives are dealt with either.
