Hail, Caesar!

Good Coen Brothers movie, not their best but still fantastic.

Here is the premise: Follows a day in the life of Eddie Mannix (Josh Brolin), a Hollywood fixer for Capital Pictures in the 1950s, who cleans up and solves problems for big names and stars in the industry. But when studio star Baird Whitlock (George Clooney) disappears, Mannix has to deal with more than just the fix.

Josh Brolin shines as the Hollywood Fixer from the fifties; he channels his inner classic star (think Humphrey Bogart or Darrin McGavin) and makes this homage to classic Hollywood and film noirs an instant hit. Brolin is surrounded by a great supporting cast that includes George Clooney, Ralph Fiennes, Scarlet Johansson, Tilda Swinton, Frances McDormand, Channing Tatum, and Jonah Hill; all which do an outstanding job.

One problem the movie will have is that a lot of the humor relies on the viewer to know about old Hollywood, and if you do not then a lot of the inside jokes will fall short. I happen to love old Hollywood, so I got all of the winks and nods to the good old days, The Coen Brothers have magic in their hands, and they can do no wrong in my eyes; I do recommend this film, especially if you love the Coen Brothers and/or Hollywood bygone days.
