Fellow movie-goers: One of those rare films that actually exceeds expectations by leaps and bounds.

Here is the premise: Kubo lives a quiet, normal life in a small shore side village until a spirit from the past turns his life upside down by re-igniting an age-old vendetta. This causes all sorts of havoc as gods and monsters chase Kubo who, in order to survive, must locate a magical suit of armor once worn by his late father, a legendary Samurai warrior.

Kubo and the two strings really blew me away, I was not real stoked about seeing it but so very glad I gave it a chance, I was pleasantly surprised how awesome it was. Front and center is the story, and the sub-plots sprinkled into the film, superb is all I can say. The story was crisp and fresh and the dialog in the film was phenomenal, telling not only the main story but Kubo tells stories with his stringed instrument and mystically makes origami characters come to life during his stories, this is where we get to hear about the legends that build the back stories.

The animation is incredible, created by Laika studios, who brought us Coraline in 2009, they excel in creating the world that Kubo lives in as well as the mystical stories of the Samurai warrior. The animation wows you while the story draws you in, what a great combination. The acting was as incredible as the story and animation, with 15 year old Art Parkinson carrying the brunt of the movie as Kubo; but Art is surrounded by veterans like Charlize Theron, Ralph Fiennes, Brenda Vaccaro, and Matthew McConaughey in his first animated role.

Everything works right in Kubo and the two strings, and I highly recommend it; for Adults as well as the kids.
