Maxwell heats up ACL Live with a little ‘sumthin sumthin!’

MAXWELL romanced the crowd at ACL Live at The Moody Theater on July 18, giving the audience a little ‘sumthin sumthin!’ He was sensational. 

Ro James, best known for his single , “Permission,” opened before a standing audience welcomed Maxwell to the stage. He started with his classic, “Dance With Me.”‘

Maxwell filled the love-fest with hits, old and new, including classics “Sumthin Sumthin,” “Pretty Wings,” and “Lifetime,” and his newest single “Lake By The Ocean.” Each song kindled a flame for someone in Austin’s signature, intimate venue.

A concert with Maxwell is the perfect date night for couples in love, wanting to be in love, looking for love, or trying to get over a love! It’s filled with romance and sensual entertainment. Did I mention the moves? Oh, he has the moves, filling the air with hints of what the after-concert mood could be.

Each song kindled a flame for someone in Austin’s signature, intimate venue.

Romance never gets old, and fans from their twenties to their seventies enjoyed the phenomenal sound, singing along with the artists. Romance speaks all languages, too, as the crowd included Asians, Hispanics, Caucasians, and African Americans. That night, The Moody Theater looked like the world should: a set of beautiful colors tied together in a circle of love! Absolutely breathtaking.

In an exclusive interview,  Ro James explained how he became part of the tour. “Maxwell heard my song ‘Permission’ and that led him to listen to my body of work. He liked what he heard, and the rest is history. We mix old school and new school to make a great show!”

Maxwell redefined classic soul music in April of 1996 when he released his critically acclaimed debut Urban Hang Suite. It earned Grammy n犀利士
ominations, double platinum status and Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) gold for the single, “Ascension (Don’t Ever Wonder).” The platinum albums Embrya (1998) and Now (2001) followed.

After eight years, 2009’s BLACKsummers’night debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and won two Grammys, including Best R&B Album. To date, Maxwell has achieved 13 gold and platinum certifications from the RIAA. His highly anticipated new album blackSUMMERS’night was released July 1 (Columbia).
