Ocean’s 8 Review

I thought the franchise should die out, but Bullock and team breathed new life into this otherwise defunct series.
8 Plot: Great script, very witty and fun.
8 Acting: Great ensemble cast, like a well oiled machine.
7 Directing: Gary Ross does a great job with the all female heist.
6 Cinematography: Great shots, normal heist filming.
7 Pacing: A little slow on the setup but made up for it.
7.2

Here’s the premise: Danny Ocean’s estranged sister Debbie (Bullock) attempts to pull off the heist of the century at New York City’s star-studded annual Met Gala. Her first stop is to assemble the perfect all-female crew: Lou (Blanchett), Rose (Helena Bonham Carter), Daphne Kluger(Anne Hathaway), Nine Ball(Rihanna), Tammy(Sarah Paulson), Amita (Mindy Kaling), and Constance (Awkwafina)

If anyone could bring a breath of fresh air to the now stale Ocean’s series, it would be Bullock, who shines in this new installment, directed and written by Gary Ross. The cast is freaking awesome, and work together in perfect timing, much like the characters they play have to have perfect timing for the heist they are attempting to pull off. I will say, Rhianna stole the show with her portrayal of Nine Ball, I was very impressed.

The script was smart and witty, and a perfect heist movie as far as I am concerned. The setup was a little slow but once the heist was being planned, it was on fire. It kept my attention the entire movie and kept me amused; fun summer fare and I cannot wait for Ocean’s 9.
