Pop Star: Never Stop Stopping Review

Fellow movie-goers: Andy Samberg’s funniest movie to date, a real laugh out loud kind of movie.

Here’s the premise: After a huge success with a boy band with his best friends and then a marginal success with his solo career pop/rap superstar conner4real (Samberg) now sees his new album failing to sell records. He now goes into a major tailspin and watches his celebrity high life begin to collapse. He’ll try anything to bounce back, anything except reuniting with his old rap group The Style Boyz.

What a great movie, Samberg is at his best and looks very comfortable and confident leading a terrific cast into this comedic nirvana. The writing was crisp, the jokes worked 99% of the time and it kept me entertained and laughing the entire span of the film. The cameos from massive stars show how much respect the industry has for Samberg, with Seal’s cameo possibly being my favorite part; made me howl with laughter so much I may have missed a joke or two after that.

Not a family movie, definitely not for kids; Judd Apatow, the king of adult comedies, is the producer so there is a lot of language and graphic nudity, so leave the kiddos with a babysitter and go enjoy Pop Star: Never Stop Stopping.
