Trailer Food Tuesdays gives Austin residents an opportunity to experience a unique night out by bringing some of the city’s favorite and relatively unknown food trailers together on the last Tuesday of each month, April through October, at an admission-free gathering of eight to 13 food trailers in one easily accessible location, the Long Center for the Performing Arts Terrace.
Trailers feature condensed menus that focus on their signature dishes, allowing face time with customers who may not be familiar with their offerings. Attendees are able to avoid the labor of navigating downtown Austin to locate a trailer of their choice, ensuring an opportunity to experience a variety of food options in a single venue.
Each outing includes one or more event staples, such as dynamic fusion-cuisine architects Peached Tortilla and Chi’lantro. The remaining participants are made up of returning trucks and event newcomers.
Patrons seeking more than just savory options will appreciate the dessert trailers. CoolHaus, a fun trailer that allows customers to personalize their ice cream sandwich by selecting from a variety of cookies and ice cream flavors, is a regular on-site. All-natural, organic ice pops crafter, GoodPop, as well as the renowned Hey Cupcake! have appeared at past events.
With the Austin skyline serving as the backdrop, attendees can have a seat at one of the many available open tables or on the grassy lawn that surrounds the terrace. Live music, a bar (alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks served), and a pet-friendly environment complete each event.
Canceled in May due to weather concerns, Trailer Food Tuesdays will resume on Jun. 24. Participating trailers are set to be unveiled on Jun. 15.
Parking is available in the on-site parking garage for $10 (cash and credit card accepted). Trailer Food Tuesdays is complemented by a mobile website.
