The Upscale Poetry, Live Music Event Black Austin’s Been Raving About

If you haven’t been to Encore yet, you’ve been missing out on the hottest, sexiest, most grown vibe in the city. Encore combines live music, poetry, and spoken word in a beautiful venue filled with the gorgeous, vibrant Black professionals and artists of Austin and surrounding areas.

A Vibe is Born

The show first began in April 2017 and comes from the innovative mind of Brandon Thornton, a 10-year veteran spoken word artist.

When Thornton first moved to Austin, he realized there were a lack of large-scale, quality events for Black professionals. He set out to create events and experiences where people could network, have a good time, and be themselves entirely.

After the first show, Encore quickly gained the attention of Austin and has become one of the largest organic, live music events in the city.

The Crowd is Always Looking like a Snack

Looking across the crowd, you’ll see beautiful, young, Black professionals from 25-40 years old, and the venue is consistently packed with more than 500 attendees. People say what they love most about Encore is the “amount of melanin” at every event.

Encore’s vision is to provide upscale, quality, urban events that any demographic will enjoy, and as it expands, it continues to attract an even more diverse crowd.

Come Experience a Night of Culture

Encore is a unique fusion of talented singers performing to the R&B and neo-soul tunes of the live band, thought-provoking, raw poets and spoken word artists speaking their truths, and the City’s hottest DJs playing old school and today’s hip hop and R&B.

After the show ends, the after-party kicks into overdrive as the crowd mingles, enjoys drink specials from the venue and dances the night away. VIP and premium reserved seating is available. General admission tickets are typically $20.

The Next Show, Featuring Neo-Soul Star Raheem DeVaughn

On December 16, Encore is taking its next step in evolution by bringing its first national artist, neo-soul star Raheem DeVaughn, who will perform his incredible vintage catalog and material from his new album, ChrossRhodes

Along with DeVaughn, the show will feature Distinguished Soundz Band, who has been touring with Letoya Luckett, Austin R&B staples Tree G, D-Soul, and Cha’von Dee, and spoken word poets from Dallas MasterPiece and from Killeen Richard White. All of this will be hosted by Brandon Thornton and national television actor and comedian Aaron Spivey-Sorrels.

Encore and Beyond

Thornton also operates an event company, Encore ATX. It promotes and facilitates live music, poetry, and social events to bring authentic, innovative, and mature events to the Austin urban night-life scene. A few of the events that Encore ATX has already hosted includes, a music and game night with more than 400 in attendance, open mic nights, afro-beat and reggae rooftop parties and an NBA Finals Watch Party.
