Austin Celebrates Fashion Week, Plans Expansion to Dallas

The 6th Annual Austin Fashion Week, Apr. 24 to May 3, was filled with runway shows, exciting new designs, shopping at the Marketplace, red carpet photo ops, a night devoted to fashion for men, fashion for children, and an entire line for teenagers. The week concluded with an awards show celebrating local fashion talent.

Runway shows ranged from Avant-garde to swimwear to menswear. Familiar local faces were present, including Ross Bennett, Adrienne Yunger, and Crowned Bird. New Austin talents on the scene included M.E. Shirley, Curlee Bikini, and S.T.E.F.

This year delivered Designer All Stars Shows featuring six of the most popular designers from Lifetime® Network’s hit television show Project Runway. Korto Momolu, Jeffrey Sebelia, Melissa Fleis, Mychael Knight, Michelle Lesniak, and Austin’s own Daniel Esquivel unveiled designs from their latest collections.

On the final night, event founder Matt Swinney announced plans to take the Austin Fashion Week experience to Dallas in the fall.
