Creek Show Celebrates a Decade of Art and Community Engagement

Waterloo Greenway’s 10th Annual Creek Show will be November 8-16.

Waterloo Greenway’s flagship event, Creek Show, is set to return this month, November 8-16, for its momentous 10th anniversary, showcasing the transformative vision for Waller Creek as a vibrant urban park and trail system.

Since its inception in 2014, Creek Show has become a beacon of creativity, community engagement, and an exemplary platform for local artists, architects, and designers to present site-specific artwork that resonates with themes tied to the Greenway’s mission.

This year’s Creek Show promises an exhilarating lineup of events, performances, and art installations that will illuminate the beauty and potential of the Waterloo Greenway. As part of its evolution, the festival aims to blend high-level creativity with community connection, reflecting the rich artistic fabric that defines Austin.

“Austin’s vibrant art community is iconic to our city’s culture, and Creek Show is an instrumental piece of the picture,” stated Christina Crean, Regional Sales Activation Manager at Tito’s Handmade Vodka, a long-time supporter of the project. “We’re excited to celebrate the eclectic local talent while reinforcing our commitment to transform Waller Creek into a vital resource for future generations.”

Attendees will be able to experience a plethora of engaging activities with their online reservation which offers various admission options, including free and low-cost tickets. All proceeds from the event will benefit Waterloo Greenway, which aims to create a stunning 35-acre urban park network in collaboration with the City of Austin.

The inaugural day, Friday, November 8, will kick off with an opening night celebration sponsored by PNC Bank. This exclusive event will offer early access to the luminescent artwork being showcased, paving the way for a magical start to the festivities.

A highlight of the event will be the “Small Biz Saturday” on November 9, which encourages guests to shop local and support women and LGBTQ+ creatives. Curated in collaboration with FutureFront Texas, this initiative underscores the festival’s commitment to uplifting diverse local talents.

Free general admission will be available on Sunday, November 10, allowing all attendees to experience the creativity at no cost, thanks to generous sponsors including 3M and Austin Energy. This day will also feature a special artist talk, allowing guests to engage directly with the minds behind the art.

Throughout the week, Creek Show will honor various themes, including Veterans Day on November 11, where the event will focus on resilience with a special yoga session for veterans. November 12 will celebrate intergenerational conversations with the “Aging is Living Night”, and on the following days, Creek Show will embrace nature, sustainability, and community spirit.

The Creek Show Lounge at Swim Club will provide a cozy space to unwind and enjoy gourmet snacks and refreshing beverages, creating a family-friendly atmosphere where guests can relax and recharge.

With additional support from local businesses and cultural institutions, Creek Show has become more than just an art event; it encapsulates the community’s vision for a greener, more connected Austin.

As Creek Show enters its tenth year, it continues to shine a spotlight on the creative efforts behind the vision for the Waterloo Greenway. This initiative not only beautifies the urban environment but promotes health, wellness, and connectivity for all.

Join the celebration of artistry, community, and environmental consciousness as Creek Show turns ten and invites all to partake in the magic that is being woven into the tapestry of Austin’s landscape!
