In collaboration with volunteers and local partners, the City of Leander will honor the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. by hosting its first MLK Day Parade & Street Festival themed “Community Unity – Bright & Bold” on Jan. 17, 2022, in Old Town Leander.
King believed in celebrating and promoting the worth of every human being. In his pursuit of equal rights by nonviolent means, King encouraged diverse cultures to live together in a spirit of love, understanding, and service to one another.
The purpose of Leander’s Inaugural MLK Day Parade & Street Festival is to unify and educate the community, and to encourage participation in observations, ceremonies, and activities that commemorate the federal holiday which honors the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
