The University of Texas women’s basketball team is celebrating a significant achievement as freshman Jordan Lee has been awarded the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league on January 7. This recognition comes on the heels of Lee’s impressive performance in a recent road victory against the No. 9 ranked Oklahoma team, where she showcased her shooting prowess.
In that game, Lee demonstrated her exceptional talent by sinking 4-of-5 attempts from beyond the arc, contributing a total of 17 points to help secure the win for Texas. Her remarkable shooting skills have been a highlight throughout the season, as she has consistently delivered strong performances. Over the past week, Lee made a total of eight 3-pointers, boasting an impressive shooting percentage of 66.7% (8-of-12) from three-point range.
For the season, Lee’s shooting from beyond the arc has been nothing short of spectacular, with a current percentage of 51.2%. Her ability to find the basket has been a game-changer for the Longhorns, particularly in their recent matchup against Alabama, where she hit 4-of-7 from three-point territory.
Lee’s scoring ability has been a vital asset for the team, as she has reached double figures in five games this season. Notably, during her last five games, she has excelled, shooting 65% (13-of-20) from three-point range, further solidifying her reputation as a formidable player on the court.
With this accolade, Lee becomes the second Texas freshman to earn SEC Freshman of the Week honors this season, following Justice Carlton, who has received the recognition twice. This achievement highlights the growing talent within the Longhorns‘ roster, setting a promising tone for the remainder of the season.
