Award-winning gospel artist, songwriter, producer and trailblazer Kirk Franklin performed his critically acclaimed 20 Years in One Night Tour on Jun. 10 at ACL Live in Austin, Texas. During his 2.5 hour performance, Franklin took the crowd on a journey of his hits, singing such crowd favorites as “He’s Able,” “I Smile,” “Stomp,” “Silver & Gold,” “123 Victory,” and “Intercession.” He closed the night with his current Billboard charting hit, “Wanna Be Happy!”
Watching Franklin perform is an amazing experience as he dances to his music, plays the piano, directs the band, mingles with the audience, moves on stage with his background singers, and brings song after song for your enjoyment. At points, he will stop singing and point the microphone to the audience, inviting you to sing along. The Austin crowd loved this exchange and began singing, knowing all the words to all of Franklin’s music. Franklin himself said, “I’m so impressed Austin!”
I’m so impressed Austin!
For nearly two decades now, Kirk Franklin has been a multi-platinum-selling artist of majestic fusions of gospel and contemporary music, and a mirror of Christian humanity boldly reflecting what one faith-walking man can accomplish when he focuses on God and taps deep into the gifts He gives.
Franklin is very transparent about his successes and challenges over the years, never claiming to be perfect, just forgiven. He is a pioneer in gap-bridging musicianship, uniting audiences across gospel, hip hop, pop, and R&B. Recently, he collaborated with Kanye West, taking some negative feedback from the Christian community. During the concert he made a reference to this hot topic saying, “Everyone has a soul, even Kanye West!” The crowd, understanding the statement, gave thunderous applause.
Many attending the concert posted on social media, “This was the best Kirk Franklin concert I’ve ever been to!”
His irresistible rhythms and rhapsodies have resulted in albums that consistently top both Billboard‘s Gospel and Christian charts, as well as ascend triumphantly into the Top 10 of the R&B/Hip Hop chart. After 20 years in the music industry, there is no sign of Franklin slowing down or changing his path. He speaks to the soul and touches the spirit; we need him for such a time as this!
Incredible! This blog looks exactly like my old one!
It’s on a totally different topic but it has pretty much the
same page layout and design. Great choice of colors!
