Here’s the premise: Harry Hole, an elite crime squad’s lead detective investigates the disappearance of a victim on the first snow of winter and he fears an elusive serial killer may be active again. With the help of a brilliant recruit, the cop must connect decades-old cold cases to the brutal new one if he hopes to outwit this unthinkable evil before the next snowfall
Disappointing is an understatement, THE SNOWMAN took a great story idea and destroyed it in almost every way. There are so many things wrong with this film that it would take forever to write about them; so the biggest issues for me are:
- It was billed as a suspense thriller, no suspense and no thrills!!!!
- The identity of the killer was way to easy to figure out, not good for a mystery.
- The serial killer aspect was not what we were led to believe by the advertising.
- At times, it was downright boring.
I will say that there were a few good elements to the movie, the acting was decent with what they had, the cinematography was awesome, and the opening scene was chilling and what I had hoped would set the tone for the film., but sadly it did not.
I cannot in good conscience recommend THE SNOWMAN in any way, but if you do have to see it, matinee.
