Hereโ€™s the premise:ย ย A family gets invited to spend a whole weekend in a lonely home in the countryside, but as the weekend progresses, they’ll soon realize that the family who invited them has a dark side laying inside them.

It’s interesting that just a couple of years after the European version of this came out, they decided to make an American version of it, but I am so glad they did. There are a few differences but I will not give them away, suffice to say that the ending is different in a way that makes it more satisfying and makes more sense, but I’m not sure if I was 100% ok with it. That being said, I loved this version of the movie overall.

McAvoy has been one of my favorites for years, between his role in Chronicles of Narnia to Split, he has won me over. He is truly the piece of the puzzle that makes this film work in so many ways. He does not play an out and out villain, he is more subtleย and sinister; you see the characterย slowly showing a piece at a time of his demented ways, it was beautifully played. The rest of the cast are awesome as well, and both the kids (Alix West Leflerย andย Dan Hough) are fantastic throughout the entire film.

I’m in love with the script, it’s one of the best suspense movies that has graced our screens in quite a while, it’s got some twists and turns that are really cool and make the movie even more sinister and quite frankly makesย me notย  want to make friends when traveling. You know it’s a good movie when it makes you think of doing things differently in your life or making choices (after Psycho, I did not go to motels for a while.) I did start to have a complaint, about the “stupid choices” characters in these kinds of films make, but the audience was so fun (Don’t go in there!!! He’s waiting for you!!) that I quickly changed my mind on that.

If you like suspense, go see this movie, you will love it.,
