Here’s the premise: A hodge podge group of criminals kidnap the 12-year-old ballerina daughter of a powerful underworld figure, all they have to do to collect a $50 million ransom is watch the girl overnight. Soon they begin to realize this is no ordinary job, and the girl in no ordinary girl.
I tend to like vampire movies a lot, and usually really enjoy one that is unique in the storytelling. I have been fascinated with Vampires from the age of 11 when I saw Bela Lugusi as Dracula and the 1922 film Nosferatu. This has always been such a fascinating tale for me, so I was thrilled to see Abigail.
The story was pretty cool, a little predictable, but maybe that’s because I’ve seen so many vampire movies, and it did not ruin the movie for me either. I went along for the ride and was happy with the thrill of the ride. As in most of these kind of movies, there is plenty of blood, fangs, and flying in the air, twists that you may or may not see coming and some comedy to break up the gore. As far as comedy is concerned, that was delivered by the late Angus Cloud and Kevin Durand, they kept the levity going to slow down your heart rate. While all the actors did a great job, I have to say that Alisha Weir stole the show as Abigail; you see many sides of this character and Alisha delivers them very well.
As a fan of horror movies, I had fun at Abigail, I liked the writing, acting, and twists. If you like vampire movies at all, I would say give this one a spin, it’s fun, and good and gory.
