Founded in 2009 by Mikaila when she was a little girl at just four years old, the idea to sell lemonade first began when she entered a competition for young entrepreneurs that highlighted honeybees and the role they play in our ecosystem.
Mikaila’s company has humble beginnings, starting with the company’s first and original flaxseed lemonade and honey. The recipe was found in a cookbook her great-grandma had. Now, more than ten years later and with 5 ready-to-drink, award-winning lemonades, her product can be found in grocery stores across Texas and is distributed in all 50 states.
The newest Me & The Bees Lemonade – Black Cherry launched in February and packs a punch. The bold flavor is a little sweet and tart but leaves you feeling relaxed and refreshed. You still taste their signature honey and lemon, like their other beverages, and the drink quenches your thirst. Black Cherry is a super fruit that contains antioxidants, melatonin, potassium, and other ingredients that reduce inflammation.
From the moment you twist the bottle cap to the last drop of lemonade at the bottom of the bottle, the new flavor leaves you wanting more. The aroma and the taste of Me & The Bees’ new lemonade flavor are heavenly. The color is also a beautiful purple reddish hue that is light enough for you to see through.
Maikaila prides herself on being a changemaker, and as a social entrepreneur, she supports causes through her business. For February, Me & The Bees Lemonade donated a portion of each sale to fund a new youth social entrepreneurship workshop. Each drink purchased went toward the conservation of the bees and education. Healthy Hive Foundation is the company’s nonprofit that focuses on saving honeybees. It was fitting for the new Black Cherry Lemonade to launch at this time because the plant grows through November to March and produces beautiful flowers that pollinate the bees.
